Hindsight is a story I’ve wanted to tell for as long as I've been a film maker. Now, as part of my honours degree, I have the opportunity to do so. I’m passionate about making Hindsight into the amazing film I feel the story deserves and I've spent the last few years developing and evolving the story, concepts and characters towards the final script.
I want the watchers to be as challenged as he is by the choices he has to make as Lorie confronts him.
Underneath the dark-future-of-tomorrow setting, the short film is an exploration of the ramifications of a single choice. I love science fiction and believe it's the perfect platform to discuss difficult and often controversial moral issues. Hindsight asks the audience to look beyond 'right' and 'wrong' and instead to think about consequences and people: Is it right to sacrifice one person to save a million? Do the ends justify the means?
Hindsight will be far more than just a time travel science fiction film. It doesn’t have space ships or aliens, but it’s about choice and decision; consequences and love. This is my chance to encourage people to look beyond themselves, their personal contexts and problems and think of a bigger picture. Every single person, every single decision has the power to change the world.
It's only through understanding the past that we learn not to make the same mistakes, allowing us to forge a better future together.
